The Patch(es)

The National "Song of The Day" is Apartment Story (Live Version). It's fucking amazing. If you don't like it, I fucking hate you :| The banter at the end of the song makes me smile and LOL a lot. Anyway, not only is this weekend International Oasis Appreciation Day or A.K.A. International SAS Day but it's also The Cabbagetown Festival. Events started tonight but the festival lasts until the end of Sunday. Basically what happens is half of Toronto come to visit me our neck of the woods, get drunk, eat strange foods and make comments on how snobby we must be living our lives in such pretty homes. It's huge. The best part of this festival is the Arts & Crafts Show which takes place at the Riverdale Park on Saturday and Sunday -- you should go. It becomes this small city of art and clusterfuck. One of my favourite artists, Kathryn Boyd, shall be in attendance. Visit her site! Go now!. There's far too much I can tell you about my neighbourhood. I am in love with The Patch. I am slowly becoming Mr. Cabbagetown. The people are friendly. There's a sense of 'community'. We look out for each other. We say hello to one another (I know this is shocking Toronto). We are this marriage between the well-off and the cracked-apart (addicts). This part of Toronto is known to be trendy but we don't give a fuck what Toronto has to say of us. You can never call yourself a true resident of Cabbagetown until you've either been mugged or had to contend with haunted abodes -- ghosts. Once you've been accepted, this part of you will never leave you, no matter where you travel, no matter how far away you venture. It's a haven, a safehouse. We are our own republic [ I don't feel like myself when I leave the geographical boundaries that seperate us from them. Them being like, the dementors and such ] We have our own flag that serves as its own 'fuck you' to the rest of Toronto. On this flag is a Cabbage. How brilliant is that?

For more information about the festival, click here. I am now going to pay my respects to "The Patch" in the form of photos. There's a lot. Also, a lot of these photos are from a range of time. Some photos are more snapshot-like. So, if a picture looks good then it's more recent. I bid you a good morning, 2:21 A.M..
