Icelandic Indie Versus Lost. This is more of a general memo than it is a warning. For awhile, now, some people have been trying (sans success) to get me to listen to Sigur Ros. Let me just take this opportunity to tell you all that I hate Sigur Ros. Please do not try to swindle me into liking them, you shall remain unsuccessful. Diversity is a wonderful thing, really, maybe one of the best of things. Diversity is such that dictates; it's OKAY for me NOT to like Sigur Ros, and that it is OKAY for you to admire them. Let me just drop a little bit fact to put everything into context. When I (rarely) listen to Sigur Ros, I want to kill myself. Sigur Ros come from Iceland. Iceland has the highest suicide rate of any country in the world. Every album review of every Sigur Ros disc I've read in NME or Q Magazine or Mojo typically incorporates key words such as; majestic, beautiful, serene. Here is how my review for every Sigur Ros song I've ever heard would go "Sigur Ros, it's a little bit like being fucked in the ass by a rainbow". The end.

In case you didn't observe this in the last episode of Lost, it's rather important. In the last episode of Lost we see John Locke climbing the ravene in order to reach the plane that is perched on the edge. You'll remember that Ethan starts shooting at John Locke and hits his leg -- rendering him wounded with a bullet to be later removed by Guy Who Never Ages Dude. This was extremely important because; Remember when John Locke and Boone first stumble upon the airplane in Season 1? John starts to grab his leg in agony and then falls to the ground for no reason. We, the audience, don't know why he's rendered immobile because it's not explained. Some of us simply theorized that it was the island temporary unhealing his miraculous ability to walk again -- to maybe suggest he was doing something wrong and the island was angry with him (or something). By viewing last week's episode, that unexplained injury has now been explained. He was shot by Ethan in a future memory that hadn't happened in the time he fell to the ground at the site of the plane crash (whereupon he told Boone to go up into the canopy). This is amazing for obvious reasons relating to A: The current theme of Season 5 being time-traveling. B: The unexplained moments in previous episodes of Lost wherein now we must go back to as we watch Season 5 in order to explain these instances. C. The awesome fucking replay value of owning the seasons of Lost on DVD. My goodness! Current Music: Not Sigur Ros |
